Kerstin Lillemor Ekman (born Hjort) is one of Sweden's foremost living novelists. She was born in Finspång and grew up in Katrineholm. In 1957 she graduated from Uppsala University with the equivalent of an MA. She was a scriptwriter and producer at the documentary film company Artfilm between 1956 and 1959 and she taught at the Wik Folk Highschool near Uppsala between 1966 and 1970.
