The Swedish author K. (Karl) Arne Blom was born in Nässjö where he passed his baccalaureate in 1967. Later the same year, he moved to Lund where he attended university, and was living there ever since. Blom graduated with a BA in 1972. He worked as a councillor at Lund University, as a freelance journalist, translator and literature critic.

The American author Frank Morrison Spillane was born in Brooklyn, New York, to an Irish Catholic father and Scottish Presbyterian mother.
